The goal of this committee is to assist members of the US Armed Forces in the improvement of hand care, education and resources. The committee consists of both ASSH military members and civilian members, and it meets at the Annual Meeting, the annual Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons (SOMOS) meeting, and via teleconference throughout the year.

The Self-Assessment Exam Committee is pleased to report that the response to the new Web format was overwhelmingly positive.  Ninety-three percent of those who took the post-exam survey responded favorably when asked their impressions of the exam.

Historically, the AFSH has focused primarily on hand surgery research projects.  However, its mission also includes funding of education and outreach programs, and in conjunction with its 25th anniversary, the Foundation is poised to dramatically expand its scope and vision in all three of these areas.

Doctors cannot continue to shoulder the costs of health care.  The US Government's Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) needs to be repealed or significantly modified.
