Program Overview

The ASSH Comprehensive Review Course is designed as an advanced review course and update for practicing hand surgeons as well as Residents and Fellows in training.  The course will review the relevant concepts of anatomy, biomechanics and pathology as well as diagnostic and treatment methods relating to wrist and hand surgery. Strategies will be reviewed to improve test taking skills with time allotted for discussion. The faculty are recognized experts in hand surgery and have been selected for their knowledge, expertise and contributions relating to the subject matter they present.

Learning Objectives

  • Assess the relevant concepts of anatomy, biomechanics and pathology relating to surgery of the wrist and hand.
  • Utilize generally accepted diagnostic techniques required to evaluate various disease processes.
  • Determine appropriate treatment alternatives for acquired, traumatic, inflammatory, congenital, metabolic and neoplastic disorders of the wrist and hand.
  • Improve test taking skills for hand and wrist assessment examinations

The ASSH designates this live activity for a maximum of 22.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Of the 22.25 credits, 00.50 have been identified as applicable to Patient Safty.


The American Society for Surgery of the Hand is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education to physicians.

2019 Comprehensive Review course registration includes daily breakfast, lunch and refreshment breaks and a detailed course syllabus (electronic only)*. Course sessions and food functions are for the course registrants only — spouses, family and guests are not permitted in these areas.

Registration is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  

*If you would like a printed course syllabus, an additional fee of $50 will be added to your total.

All refunds must be requested in writing to the ASSH Central Office by email at [email protected] or by fax at (847) 384-1435.

A full refund, less a $150 administrative fee, will be given if written notification is received by the ASSH Central Office on or before June 7, 2019. Cancellations received between June 8 and June 21, 2019 will receive 50% back of payment received.

No refunds will be issued after June 21, 2019.

The 2019 Comprehensive Review course will be held at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel at 1 West Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601.

  • All attendees are responsible for making their own sleeping room reservations.
  • DO NOT contact the ASSH Office for hotel reservations.  
  • Please ask for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand course rate.
  • Check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out time is 12:00 PM.
  • Complimentary basic high speed internet is offered in paid guest rooms.

Reservation requests must be received by 5:00pm CST on or before June 18, 2019. Upon check in you will be asked to verify your check out date. The Renaissance utilizes a 72-hour cancellation policy. Rates are subject to state and local taxes in effect at the time of the meeting.

NOTE: If the room block fills prior to the deadline, the hotel cannot guarantee availability and/or the special ASSH course rate.


Parking fees for the Renaissance Chicago is $69 daily.

This program is targeted for surgeons specializing in hand, orthopaedic and plastic surgery, as well as allied health professionals serving the hand care profession. Exhibiting at this program will allow you to reach leaders in the field of hand surgery and therapy in an intimate, small course setting. Expected attendance is 200-250 with approximately 90% surgeons and 10% allied health professionals.
